Twin storms track toward US as 13 killed in Haiti, D.Republic

Port-au-Prince (AFP) – Two storms are expected to hit the US Gulf Coast in the coming days, forecasters said Monday, though the threat of both being hurricanes receded as Hurricane Marco weakened sharply.Tropical Storm Laura, which killed at least 13 people when it struck Haiti and the Dominican Republic, was set to track just south of Cuba on Monday.”Gradual strengthening is expected, and Laura is forecast to become a hurricane by early Tuesday,” the US National Hurricane Center said, predicting it would make landfall in the US state of Louisiana later in the week.Storm Laura brought heavy ra…
